Swine Flu

If you listen to the news, the Swine Flu is coming and we need to be afraid, very afraid.

Okay it is a scary virus but there are a few easy things you can do to protect yourself and your kids.

Take a peek at the article posted in Health and Wellness.

Meet Bo, the Obamas' new dog.

After months of anticipation, a 6-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo is now calling the White House home.

First, the name. According to The Washington Post, which published confirmation of the White House dog news Sunday, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, chose the name because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because Mrs. Obama's father was nicknamed Diddley, as in Bo Diddley. The dog is a gift from Sen. Ted Kennedy, who owns three dogs of the same breed, known for high spirits and said to be a good fit for kids with allergies (such as Malia). Kennedy had been lobbying the Obamas to get a Portuguese Water Dog  for months.

And look at how cute he is!

Style Matters on Shapewear

Judie: The other day Evelinda and I were on KOSI 101 FM radio with Denise Plante and Murphy. At a break, with no warning whatsoever, Evelinda hikes up her dress. "See what I’m wearing," she screams to everyone in the studio. What she was so demurely showing us was her new Spanx slip.

Evelinda: I thought Denise would want to see it and Murph had no problems. He has three daughters. What’s the big deal?

Judie: The big deal is I have to admit, you looked pretty svelte. What’s holding you in?

Continue to Declutter

Let’s continue on the decluttering the brain theme. We've noticed what happens when we keep collecting stuff, gold as well as garbage and let it pile up in our garage (brain), we also talked about closing the garage door so that we stop collecting other people's clutter.

Now, let’s get clear that what we are thinking, being, doing as our own beliefs and not leftover clutter from the past events and interpretations or from other people telling us how to be. how to know that how we are parenting, performing, and choosing what to do next is based in our own highest good.

Are your frustrations showing up a lot or do you get really happy and excited because you are living fully in your own life? How to determine that it is your own gold?

Here's your morning "feel good."

I got this email from a listener...it's a great one!

Clean The Garage

So, last time we talked about what a garage looks like when we keep shoving garbage into it as well as gold for years and suddenly look at it and wonder -- what happened? We figure out at some point that we need to declutter and it looks overwhelming but we have to take it a step at a time and tackle it so that we can throw away the garbage and find the gold.

What I want to talk about now is the idea that we sometimes take on other people’s garbage. By using this garage metaphor, I don’t know anyone who puts a sign in their yard saying --- Free garage space! Park your cars! Pile your junk and give me your rotten stinky food! I’ll take care of it all for you! For FREE! Really, seriously people!!! Dump in this space here and don’t stop dumpin!

Go green for Easter in 2009!

Easter is just around the corner, 12 days away to be exact. So much about this holiday, sadly, has become commercialized and mass produced... hardly eco-friendly. Consider forgetting shopping at big-box retailers this year and opt for the more environmentally responsible ways to create decorations and baskets of goodies for the kids. Here are some suggestions to have a more eco-friendly, natural take on this holiday:

Make Your Own Baskets. Get a basket from a local thrift store or search your garage or attic for one. Take paper that you have laying around your house that you would normally recycle and run it through a paper shredder. You can also use scissors if you don't have a shredder. Fill the baskets with little trinkets and toys, a stuffed animal, crayons and water colors, organic juice boxes, and healthier options like fruit leather.

Barbie Gets Inked

Every beloved product must be revamped at some point because as the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, break it.”

And thus we come to Totally Stylin’ Tatoo. What’s so stylin’ ‘bout the new Barbie? How about that lower back tattoo tribute to Ken. Yep, Barbie just got a little nastier (or as Mattel puts it, “edgier”).

So controversial is the new design that West Virginia State Delegate Jeff Eldridge is arguing for a ban on Barbie, stating that the toys damage girls' self-esteem.

What do you think? Does the new Barbie go too far or is this all overblown?

Who's Going to Change My Furnace Filter Now??

My significant other (AKA: Eric) is the one that goes down into our crawlspace to change the furnace filter whenever it’s time. Now, my crawlspace is naturally a bit tight and he’s a big dude (6′4″) with a bit of a claustraphobic issue. Just a bit. He keeps telling me to remind him to get down there and change it… but I think he’s procrastinating.

And today I read this news story about what one guy in Westminster found in his crawlspace. Click HERE to read for yourself. I’ve got to hide this story from Eric or I’ll have to do this task myself… I’m no wimp but I’d rather not do it… EVER.
