Stroke Risk Coupled With Lack of Sleep

There never seems to be enough hours in the day. No matter how late you stay up or how early you roll out of bed there always seems to be more stuff left on that “To Do” list. And most of us  trade sleep for getting more items off that list. There’s a new study from the North Carolina School of Public Health that says too much or too little sleep can pose a serious risk to post menopausal women. Pam Peeke has a good article here on the Prevention website.
Here are the basics. If a woman sleeps nine hours or more her risk of stroke jumps 60 to 70% higher. If she gets less than six hours there is a 14% increased stroke risk. Physical factors, financial status, depression, and other heart risk factors had some influence but weren’t fully accountable for the link between sleep patterns and stroke risk.
